When to see: March-May, July, September-October

Where to see: Woodland, woodland edges, mature hedgerows and gardens

Behaviour: Perch

Wingspan: 50-64mm

Caterpillar food plant: Common Nettle (Uritica dioica)

Peak District status: A widespread but rather local resident. A few adults are seen in March-April following hibernation with much higher numbers recorded July-September.
