Wingspan: 29-36mm

Caterpillar food plant: Common Birds-foot Trefoil (Lotus corniculatus)

Cheshire status: Still a widespread resident, although its distribution at lowland sites has become more patchy due to loss of habitat caused by modern farming methods. Normally double-brooded in the lowlands and single-brooded in the Pennine foothills. Breeds in a range of habitats and will quickly colonise waste ground or derelict industrial areas.
